The Gentlewoman

The Gentlewoman magazine is a bi-annual women's magazine that is fast becoming one of my favourite publications. A sophisticated Adele is gracing the cover of the magazine's third issue. Perhaps for some not an obvious cover girl which makes her an inspired choice for The Gentlewoman. Could this be the first of many more covers for the soulful singer?

I’ve worked on many editorials but there's something really special about the team at Gentlewoman. From the moment I stepped into their premises everyone was friendly and generous from Fashion Director Johnathan Kaye to Richard at The Gentlewoman office, I was beyond impressed. Photography by the lovely and imaginative Daniel Riera and manicure by the brilliantly precise Jenny Longworth, who has recently done nails for Jessie J. Polish by Essie in Mademoiselle.

Mode Magazine - The wait is over?

The wait is over... or is it? Mode has hit the streets and I can't find a copy anywhere!? Thank goodness for it's digital version http://www.shortlist.com/home/article/1095/mode-arrives

Editor Adrian Clark has David Gandy on the cover and Sam Way on the inside, this free men's glossy isn't just for the boys! Looks like I'll have to ask Mr Clark to send me my free copy!

Dalmatian Print Nails LFW

Inspired by Sophy Robson's team for Topshop Unique at London Fashion Week, I attempted the 'Dalmatian Print' nails. Using a white by Jessica and a black by Jack Wills. Wonder what my yoga class will make of it tomorrow!?

Mode Magazine shoot

Shortlist are launching a new glossy bi-annual men's magazine this March called MODE. My job was to dig my nails into model Sam Way's chest. The face of Paco Rabanne and Diesel campaigns no less. Tough job!

Nails Apricot Punch by Rimmel for that 70's look. Photographer was the lovely Matthew Shave, who features in my set pictures with model Sam Way. The shot was inspired by 70's Denim Aftershave commercial (see link).

Mode is a free magazine and can be picked up at commuter hot spots such as Canary Wharf and Victoria station.

The Times App for iPad

When the Apple iPad first came out I honestly thought it was just another gimmick for the filthy rich! After spending a day testing it for this commercial I was sold. I abhor touching newspapers so The Times app was perfect for me. Sliding through articles, clicking on videos, enlarging pictures...I was hooked!

Watching the commercial now, it's hard to believe I did all the movements on green screen!

Photographer Phil Sills and Malaya Jewellery

Collaborating with photographer Phil Sills was the perfect opportunity to use some gorgeous pieces from Malaya Jewellery, designed by my talented friend Sophie Butler. Phil was looking for a specific look for this shoot and Malaya Jewellery fitted the specification perfectly.
Nails done by me, colour is White on White by Revlon.

Still Life Photographer - D.Gill

The world of hand modelling can get a little strange sometimes. If a hand model isn't threatening to put a cigarette out on your hand then they're claiming to be Kate Moss' hand double! So it's refreshing to work with a photographer who actually appreciates that you're 'normal', whatever that means?! I guess it's relative.

I've worked with David Gill regularly over this last year. As a hand model you tend to go from job to job so it's a real pleasure and novelty to work frequently with the same people, especially ones who work hard and still have time to have a sense of humour. When I'm assigned a job with Mr Gill I always look forward to catching up with both David and Dave, his assistant (yes really!). Check out some of David's still photography that I captured at his studio.
